Kiwanis of Charles Town Turns 100 Years Old

Kiwanis of Charles Town was born at Rouss Hall in Charles Town, WV on June 4, 1926.

From its very beginning, the charter members of the Charles Town Kiwanis Club had a strong commitment to make Charles Town and the surrounding area a better place to live.

Such commitment has been passed through the generations. Charles Town Kiwanians, then and now, voluntarily respond to the challenge of improving their community by assuming personal responsibility for humanitarian and civic projects that public authorities are often unable to carry out.

Over the years, our members have established enduring friendships through community service.

Since 1926, Charles Town members have worked to champion community needs such as the construction of the original Bloomery Bridge across the Shenandoah River and the construction of Charles Town General Hospital.

Kiwanians even played a vital role in the development and upkeep of Jefferson Memorial Park.

The club’s membership is especially dedicated to children through school-oriented Sponsored Youth programs, community Easter Egg Hunts, Fishing Derbies, Little League sponsorships, academic recognitions, scholarships, and the community’s iconic Santa’s Toy Workshop.

This June we will celebrate 100 years of Kiwanis of Charles Town! This is a major event as many clubs do not make this milestone.
